It is an honor and a blessing to serve middle school students at St. Luke School. St. Luke is home, where faith, academic excellence, and character development come together to prepare students for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and service.

We are committed to providing each student with an excellent, Christ-centered education. Our mission guides every aspect of what we do — from challenging students academically to nurturing their spiritual growth, physical health, and leadership abilities. We believe that education is most powerful when it prepares students not just for the next academic step, but also for a life devoted to Christ and compassionate service to others.

Rooted in a deep commitment to Scripture and Christian values, our middle school program is designed to meet the unique needs of young adolescents. It emphasizes the importance of developing the whole person. Students at St. Luke School are encouraged to think creatively and critically, communicate clearly and confidently, and collaborate respectfully with others. They engage deeply in core academics and the fine arts, athletics, and a variety of enrichment activities that foster a love of learning and discovery.

A St. Luke graduate is distinguished by a heart for service, a commitment to lifelong learning, and the ability to engage the world thoughtfully and faithfully. We take great pride in preparing students who will perform with distinction in their future academic endeavors and live out their faith with courage and compassion.

As principal, it is my joy to work alongside our dedicated faculty, supportive families, and remarkable students to build a school culture where Christ is at the center of everything we do. Whether you are a current family or visiting us for the first time, I invite you to explore all St. Luke School offers. Together, we are Preparing Minds and Living for Christ.

Academics

  • We believe that to create life-long learners, we need to create life-long readers. Our middle schoolers participate in a novel study each quarter. Through the novel study, writing and presentations naturally transpire. These skills build upon each other and culminate in our eighth-graders giving a speech on a researched topic of their choosing in the spring of their “Senior Lion” year as their signature project.

  • To encourage each learner individually, we have two classes for math in our seventh and eighth grades. The accelerated math classes are based on pre-algebra and algebra standards. We challenge each student because we know that math is foundational and an important skill to have in the world we live in. To enhance our curriculum even further, an individualized IXL program is also used in each math class.

  • Each grade has an area of expertise. The sixth-graders study earth science, while our seventh-graders study life science. Our eighth-grade year culminates in a year of physical science. Our science classes are hands-on with labs, collaborative projects, and demonstrations. These three science content areas give our students a well-rounded science education in preparation for their high school of choice.

  • Our sixth-grade and seventh-grade social studies classes are designed to create a world citizen who is confident in economics, cultures, geography, and government. Our sixth-graders study countries in the Western Hemisphere while our seventh-graders study countries in the Eastern Hemisphere. While we are world citizens, it is important to know about where you live and build pride in where you inhabit, so in eighth grade, we focus on Georgia History and our current state.

  • Our Bible curriculum is designed to be taught for four days of the week. On our fifth day, Wednesday, we attend chapel, a service that includes corporate worship and a sermon. During our Bible classes, the children have scripture that they memorize and study. From these studies, Christ-like character is discovered and encouraged.

  • Our sixth-graders and seventh-graders are required to take Spanish, and our eighth-graders are offered Advanced Spanish as an elective. Middle School students are introduced to the Spanish language and culture through a course that is designed to be proficiency-based and content-focused. Students learn core vocabulary and grammatical structures through stories containing comprehensible vocabulary, playing games focused on reading, listening, and interpreting the Spanish language. The class is full of engaging activities in Spanish. Culture notes will include countries from Central and South America.

Electives

  • At St. Luke School, our middle school fine arts program offers a range of engaging quarter-long electives that foster creativity, build technical skills, and deepen students’ appreciation for the visual arts. In Art Appreciation, students explore famous artists and art movements while connecting art to the world around them—past projects include an interactive art museum and a public landscape art show. Art Foundations introduces students to various materials and techniques, encourages creative thinking, and lays the groundwork for Advanced Art, which allows self-motivated 8th graders to experiment with sculpture, painting, printmaking, and mixed media while developing personal style and refining their work. Observational Drawing challenges students to draw what they see using traditional techniques and a range of media, with a focus on perspective, shading, proportion, and composition. Together, these courses provide a well-rounded and inspiring visual arts experience for every student.

  • 6th Grade Music

Students experience various styles of music and play various instruments (drums, xylophones, ukuleles, and hand chimes) and explore many different styles of music.

    Singers

Singers is a vocal group made up of seventh and eighth-graders. They have several opportunities throughout the year to sing...chapel service, Christmas programs, and places around the community.

    Spring Musical

The middle school musical, a 21-year tradition, is an auditioned group of fifth through eighth-graders. The students practice for seven months, and the performance is in April.

  • Our eighth-grade girls have an opportunity to do the Priscilla Shirer study Defined. This Bible study explores how our Creator is the only one who can define his creation…us!

  • Family and Consumer Science introduces key concepts that are reinforced by hands-on experiences covering independent living skills. Students are given the opportunity to explore basic goal setting, careers, money management, consumerism, home maintenance and design, basic sewing skills, child development/babysitting, and basic cooking skills.

  • At St. Luke School, our Physical Education program provides a safe and nurturing environment where students can grow, learn, and thrive. Through sport education and gameplay, we focus on enhancing skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting the joy of movement. Our ultimate goal is to develop physically literate individuals who value an active lifestyle and embrace the benefits of lifelong health and wellness.

  • Middle School students are introduced to the Spanish language and culture through a course that is designed to be proficiency-based and content-focused. Students learn core vocabulary and grammatical structures through stories containing comprehensible vocabulary, playing games focused on reading, listening, and interpreting the Spanish language. The class is full of engaging activities in Spanish. Culture notes will include countries from Central and South America.

  • Our eighth graders are offered an elective in math focused on the exposure to geometry concepts.

  • The middle school STEAM experience introduces students to concepts that are designed to spark an interest and appreciation for the topics explored, such as Stop Motion Animation, Robotics, and Personal Finance.

  • St. Luke School's two media centers operate on a flexible schedule during regular school operating hours. This allows teachers to send students to visit the centers individually to check books in and out. Time is set aside each week for grades JrK-3rd to visit the library as a whole class (fourth-grade classes visit biweekly) to listen to stories and explore books they would like to read. We endeavor to create a welcoming and engaging library environment and to encourage a love of reading and lifelong learning.
